This week at Women of Heart was our Christmas “Wrap It Up” brunch. The food was delicious and the sharing with friends was encouraging. Our guest speaker, Wendy Lowe from the Calgary Pregnancy Care Centre, gave an inspiring and challenging message. In the end she asked everyone, “What small gift, what act of kindness, can you give this Christmas?” But first she shared what kindness is:
Kindness is...
- An action
- An act of behaviour
- A reaction
- Can pay a huge dividends
- Spending time
- Humility
- Gentleness
- Caring to see the image of God in someone, regardless of where they come from
- Creating a safe environment
- Being a gentle companion
- Patience
- An underserved act of service
- Compassion
- Illustrated in Colossians 3:12 describing how we must act and in 1:15-20 describing who Jesus is in the Christmas story.
God gave us the gift of salvation. He will keep pursuing you, and revealing himself to you with gentleness, humility, and patience. He will continue to wait until you are ready to accept His gift.
Imagine someone loving you so much that they came as a baby, lived to die for your sins, giving you the gift of salvation. Jesus Christ is the ultimate gift of kindness.
